  • Abstract:-
  • Quantum information and quantum computation are nascent sciences that benefit from the quantum-mechanical nature to launch the next wave of information and communications technology. In these realms, fundamental quantum systems like photons and subatomic particles are harnessed to build fascinating quantum devices and protocols superior to traditional classical systems. Rather than relying on the binarized nature of classical bits, quantum mechanics offers a more advanced unit; the quantum bit (the qubit), that supports coherent superposition and interference, enabling it to embody an infinite number of possible values. This talk will shed light on optical processing of quantum information. We will explore qubit encoding and processing in different degrees of freedom of light. We will then present methods for the creation and purification of hyperentangled two-photon states. This will be followed by a discussion on the security of quantum key distribution from a practical point of view.
