Visa requirements:

 

              Non-Egyptian visitors arriving in Egypt are required to be in possession of a valid passport. Entry visas may be obtained from Egyptian diplomatic and consular missions abroad, as well as from the Entry Visa Department at the Travel Documents, Immigration and Nationality Administration (TDINA). It is, however, possible for most visitors to obtain an entry visa at any of the major ports of entry. Please check with your nearest Egyptian Consular mission for more details concerning visa regulations applying to your citizenship. How to reach Luxor( Luxor Map)

   You can reach Luxor by air, train or bus

 By Air:

 Luxor International Airport is located 6 KM east of the centre of the city. The airport receives direct flights from several European countries.Egypt Air runs daily flights from Cairo to Luxor. The flight costs approximately $250 and takes about 50 minutes. Please note: You must book your tickets in advance.

 By Train:

The main railway station in Luxor is located in El- Mahata Square. There are frequent train services from Luxor to Cairo and from Luxor to Aswan, as well as other southern sites such as Edfu and Kom Ombo.

Transfers from the airport to the hotel:

World Gate Travel services can provide Meet and Assist service at the airport. The company representative will meet you at the arrival terminal and help finalize visa formalities through the immigration desks and then the luggage belts. Once the luggage has been identified, you will be assisted through the customs formalities then led to outside at the arrival hall where the luggage will be taken over. The guides will escort you to their coaches which are equipped with TV screens and full sound system.

Please note that $5 is the cost of the Meet and Assist at Airport; $10 is the cost of the transfer from Airport or railway station to the Hotel

 Steigenberger hotel is hosting the daily Coffee breaks and Lunch

The time of the coffee breaks and Lunch will be announced in the nearest future

Attractions and sightseeing:

There are few places in the world renowned for their historic attractions like Luxor or Thebes - the one hundred gated city as it was called by Greek historian,Herodotus.

The great Temple of Karnak, Luxor and Hatchepsut, the Tombs of the Valley of the Kings and Queens, the glorious Nile with its vast green valley and the feluccas with their white spreading sails all from the picturesque portrait of an unforgettable experience in the capital of the ancient Empire.

Luxor enjoys a warm climate all round the year of average, (+35) degrees Celsius (from March till October) and average of +25 degrees Celsius (from November till February)

Tuesday, Nov. 17th 2009 will be the excursion day to visit the sightseeing of Luxor. The program will be established and be announced  very soon with more information about the places and the transportation facilities that day

 

The organizing committee is offering Interesting program for the accompanying persons which will be available during the days of the conference:

    1-   Luxor- Abu simple ( Aswan) – Luxor:

The Temples of Abu Simbel are amongst the most interesting Pharaonic Temples. Located close to the southern border with the Sudan, it is 280

km south of Aswan and consists of two, rock-cut Temples, which both date back to the reign of King Ramses II (1290-1223 BC).

Total fees including the entrance fess, guiding fess and transportation is $125 per person.

 

 

2-   Luxor- Dandara- Abydos – Luxor:

Abydos is the temple dedicated to the ancient Egyptian god Osiris and the pharaoh seti 1. This temple contains some of the Egyptian finest relief carvings including the flower of life symbol.

Dandara since the time of the old kingdoms, it has been reversed as a center of the goddess" HATHOR", the goddess of love, beauty and joy.

 

 

Date: Wednesday, 18th November 2009

Buses will be available from the hotel in the morning for a full day visit to Dandara and Abydos templates.

Total costs: $ 70 per person
