Gravity and Cosmology: workshop in honor of Prof. M. Wanas' 70th birthday

Professor M. I. Wanas is a Prominent Egyptian scientist, he is an emeritus professor in astronomy department, Cairo university, Egypt and Deputy Director of the Center for theoretical Physics at the British University in Egypt. He was born in the 28th of June, 1941. Prof. M. Wanas obtained his first B.Sc. degree in physics(1962) from the Faculty of Teachers (belongs now to Ain Shams University, Egypt). His admiration towards special and general theories of relativity has pushed him to study more in this direction. He got his second B.Sc. in Astronomy (1969) from Cairo University, Egypt. He has been selected as a demonstrator in the Astronomy Department of Cairo University where he got his M.Sc. in Relativistic cosmology (1972) and Ph.D. in the same field (1975).

In 1975 he was appointed a job as a staff member in the same department. He continued lecturing, supervising research students and doing research work in his field of interest, the field of geometrization of physics. Fields of interest of Prof. M. Wanas are geometric unified field theory, relativistic cosmology, high energy astrophysics and relativistic mechanics. Many students have been awarded their degrees under his supervision. Prof. M. Wanas is the coordinator of the Egyptian Relativity Group (ERG). Also, he is a member of many national and international organizations e.g. The International Astronomical Union (IAU). The international society of General Relativity and Gravitation (GRG). Editorial board of “Astrophysics and Space Science”.
